ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Hastings Fiber Glass Products is seeking an electrical engineer to provide key technical assistance to sales, engineering, and production in the design, manufacture, and testing of safe, dependable hot line tools and equipment. “Hot line” tools are designed to allow electric linemen to perform maintenance on energized, high voltage power lines. We are the industry innovator of hot line tools and equipment, including the Tel-O-Pole®  telescoping hot stick and many other patented products. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with product design cycle (concept, prototyping, layout, beta testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and release) for new and modified products
  • Learn and understand operation and technical details of Company products
  • Research and cross-reference electrical components
  • Assist in the investigation and analysis of new materials and engineering practices
  • Design and conduct tests of completed equipment and components under operational conditions to investigate product performance, to obtain data for standardization, and quality control
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation
  • Assist with mechanical design, prototype building, and prototype testing
  • Promptly and thoroughly respond to customers’ technical questions involving the particulars of electrical power and use of Company products
  • Responsibilities associated with the job may change from time to time in accordance with business needs; may be required to perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education/work experience; experience in utility industry strongly preferred
  • Superior technical skills and understanding of the principles of electrical power, including but not limited to grounding power lines
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software
  • Experience with Mastercam software helpful
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with engineering change notices (ECNs)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills
  • Collaborates and easily gets along in team-based environments
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage workflow
  • Versatility and flexibility
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented

This position reports to the Chief Engineer. Continually inter-relates with sales, engineering, production, quality assurance, and purchasing personnel.
